About the product
- How is this different from just dropping a PDF into Claude?
- Dropping a PDF or PPT in can lose table, column, and shape structure as it flattens. HookDoc organizes from PPTX-native structure so your Claude can use the source more reliably.
- Does HookDoc send proposals by email itself?
- No. HookDoc creates the review link. You share it however you already share — email, messenger, or your CRM.
- Do reviewers have to sign up?
- No. They open the link, view the proposal, and can leave comments on the page if they want. HookDoc shows the review flow as anonymous review sessions.
- Who connects MCP?
- The sender connects MCP once in their own Claude. Then they can pull HookDoc data into their Claude to continue proposal work. Reviewers install nothing.
- Do scanned PDFs work?
- Scanned or image PDFs aren't accepted; guessing the content with OCR would blur your answer evidence. Use a digitally created proposal (ideally the PPTX source).
- What if reviewers never leave comments?
- You still get signals. HookDoc shows which reviewer sessions engaged and which pages drew attention.

Billing & pricing
- Does HookDoc generate replies or updates for me?
- No. HookDoc does not write or send replies or updates for you. It provides organized data and review signals; you prepare the actual replies and revision direction in your own Claude.
- What counts as an "active document"?
- A document is "active" while its share link is not revoked and the document itself is not archived or deleted. On the Free tier you can have three documents active at a time — archiving one frees up a slot. During beta the limit is raised to ten.
- When does the beta end?
- No fixed date. We announce 60 days in advance before beta closes, so you have time to choose a paid plan or export your data. Beta users get Pro plan free for their first year automatically.
- Do I need a credit card during beta?
- No. Beta accounts require only Google sign-in.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Paid plans are month-to-month by default. Cancellations take effect at the end of your billing cycle.
- Do you offer annual discounts?
- Yes. Annual billing saves 15% on Pro and Team plans when paid plans launch.
- Refund policy?
- 30-day money-back guarantee on your first paid plan.
- What happens to my documents if I downgrade to Free?
- Your documents are kept, but only three stay active. Older ones move to archive automatically. Archived documents keep their comments and signals — you can restore them if you upgrade later.
For agencies
- Can multiple account managers share review links for the same document?
- Yes. On the Team plan, your workspace is shared across seats. Any AM can create review links, view overview, and act on signals for documents uploaded by anyone in the workspace.
- Do clients see which person on my team left a comment?
- Not unless you choose to show it. Sender-side comments can be shown as "Your agency" or by the specific AM's name. This is a workspace setting.
- Can we add our logo to review links?
- Custom branding is planned for paid plans. Beta users get early access.
- White-label option?
- Reach out — white-label is possible on a custom plan with volume commitment.
For consultants
- Do I have to use HookDoc for every proposal?
- No. Upload selectively — use HookDoc for proposals where follow-up timing matters. Short quotes or internal docs can stay as regular PDFs.
- What if the client forwards the link to colleagues?
- That's fine and expected. Anyone with the link can open it. HookDoc tracks each session separately, so if the client forwards it to two colleagues, you'll see three sessions with separate engagement and outcome signals for each.
- Do I need to disclose that I'm tracking the proposal?
- Ethically, yes — and it's usually easy to frame positively. Most consultants tell clients: "I sent the proposal through a shareable link so I can tell what you've had a chance to review before our next conversation." Transparency keeps trust intact.
For founder-led sales
- Does HookDoc integrate with HubSpot, Pipedrive, or Salesforce?
- Not yet — CRM integrations are planned for v1. During beta, HookDoc is a standalone layer. You can paste outcomes into CRM notes manually if you already use one, and export activity data from the overview.
- Can I see engagement across my whole pipeline at once?
- Yes, at the workspace level. Your overview shows every document's activity side by side. On the Team plan, a co-founder or first AE sees the same workspace, so anyone on your team can pick up context on any deal.
- Is this for closed-won deals or still-early-stage ones?
- Still-early-stage. HookDoc covers the blind follow-up phase between sending the proposal and hearing back. For contract signing, you'd use something like DocuSign after the deal is won.
