Terms of Service
Thank you for using HookDoc ("the Service"). These Terms govern the agreement between you and HookDoc's operator. Please review them before signing up, sharing links, or paying for a plan. This is a beta-stage draft and will be finalized after a full legal review prior to public launch.
1. Service description
HookDoc converts PDF proposals into page-based web review spaces. Reviewers can open the document without signing up, leave area-anchored comments, and pick a structured review outcome before they close the tab. Senders get back signals — which reviewer sessions opened the document, which page held attention the longest, and what outcome was selected.
The Service does not include authoring tools, e-signature, or contract management. It is a niche product that augments the PDFs you already produce during the review window only.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Sign-up is via Google OAuth only. Users must hold a valid Google account. Users under 14 are not permitted to sign up.
On sign-up a single-member workspace is created in the background. Member invitations will arrive in v1.1. You are responsible for your account's security, including your Google session and any credentials.
3. Beta period and pricing
The Service is currently in private beta. During the beta, the Free plan is available in full at no cost. At public launch, beta users receive the Pro plan free for the first year.
After launch the Free plan remains free, with caps of 3 concurrent active documents and 500 MB storage. The Pro plan ($15/user/month) and Team plan ($49/month for up to 10 seats) caps and fees will be published in these Terms or a separate pricing page before taking effect.
4. Acceptable use
The following are prohibited: (a) uploading content that infringes third-party IP or privacy rights, (b) uploading another person's confidential data without authorization, (c) distributing spam, malware, or illegal content, (d) abnormal load or vulnerability probing of servers/APIs, (e) unauthorized attempts to access other users' accounts.
Confirmed violations may result in account suspension, document removal, or link revocation without prior notice.
5. Intellectual property
Copyright of the PDFs you upload and the comments you leave remains with you. HookDoc stores, renders, generates annotated derivatives, and delivers content to reviewers only for the purpose of operating the Service.
HookDoc's logo, UI design, source code, and brand elements are the operator's property and may not be copied or redistributed without permission.
6. Termination
You may permanently delete your account at any time in `/app/settings`. On deletion, all uploaded documents and derivatives are immediately hard-deleted from R2. Database records are soft-deleted for 30 days for audit and then fully purged.
Paid plan subscribers retain access until the end of the current billing cycle and then automatically move to the Free plan. HookDoc may terminate accounts after prior notice in the event of a material breach of these Terms.
7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is." HookDoc does not warrant uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or the absence of errors.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HookDoc's total liability will not exceed the total fees you paid for the Service during the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, business, or data-loss damages. We recommend keeping a local backup of your originals before upload.
8. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes related to the Service are subject to the exclusive first-instance jurisdiction of the court covering the operator's principal place of business.
When these Terms change, we will notify you at least 7 days in advance by email or in-service notice. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
