HookDoc for consultants
You send proposals, scope docs, and pricing decks solo. HookDoc adds review visibility so your follow-ups aren't guesswork — without adding tools to your stack.
The consultant follow-up problem
You sent the proposal Tuesday. By the next call, you need to know whether they actually read it, what caught their attention, and whether pricing is the blocker. But a PDF in an email tells you nothing. Every check-in reads the same: "just following up," sent into the dark. HookDoc turns that dark period into signal.
What HookDoc changes
See whether the client actually read the deck
You already know who the client is — you sent the link yourself. HookDoc shows whether they opened it, how long they spent on the pricing page, and whether anyone else on their side took a look. No more wondering whether the proposal landed.
Questions stay on the document
When a client has a question about scope or a specific pricing line, they can leave it directly on the page. You revisit with context attached. No more hunting through email threads to find "that comment about deliverable three."
Every reader leaves a signal
Even if the client doesn't write a long comment, they can mark a simple review outcome before closing: ready to move forward, need to discuss pricing, or not a fit right now. Your follow-up is based on what they actually said, not a guess.
Zero tools to add to your stack
Your workflow stays in Google Docs, Keynote, Canva, Notion, or wherever you already author. HookDoc only reads the PDF export. You're not adding another SaaS subscription to maintain — just a review layer on top of what you already do.
Where HookDoc fits in a consulting practice
- Scope of work documents where the client needs to approve exact deliverables
- Pricing proposals where you're competing against a direct rate comparison
- Mid-engagement check-in decks that need stakeholder review
- Change order or expansion proposals for existing clients
- Fixed-fee project quotes that trigger back-and-forth questions
Pricing for consultants
Most solo consultants fit the Pro plan at $15/month — unlimited documents, unlimited active review links, month-to-month. The Free plan (3 active documents at a time) works if you send fewer than three proposals a month or want to test HookDoc with a few clients first.

- Do I have to use HookDoc for every proposal?
- No. Upload selectively — use HookDoc for proposals where follow-up timing matters. Short quotes or internal docs can stay as regular PDFs.
- What if the client forwards the link to colleagues?
- That's fine and expected. Anyone with the link can open it. HookDoc tracks each session separately, so if the client forwards it to two colleagues, you'll see three sessions with separate engagement and outcome signals for each.
- Do I need to disclose that I'm tracking the proposal?
- Ethically, yes — and it's usually easy to frame positively. Most consultants tell clients: "I sent the proposal through a shareable link so I can tell what you've had a chance to review before our next conversation." Transparency keeps trust intact.
